Herstory begins

Alicia “Aer” Scott was born and raised in Compton, California, a suburb of Los Angeles County.  She grew up in a single-parent household with her mother–who was an LVN nurse– and her younger sister.

In high-school, Alicia was on the drill-team, cheer leading squad, Women’s Liberation Club and the student body government Commissioner of Activities. The highlight of her teenage years was her participation in the Super Bowl XXVII half-time show with Michael Jackson.

After graduating from high school in 1994, Alicia was accepted in to Cal-State Dominguez Hills University. However, shortly after beginning college, Alicia’s mother and grandmother grew ill and she became the primary caregiver of her younger sister; which forced to take a leave from school and start her career in the financial services industry.

Alicia’s career years…

In 1997, Alicia landed her first job in the financial services industry as an executive assistant with Berger & Associates, a woman-owned wealth management firm with a client list of some of the most wealthy and powerful women in Hollywood. That woman was Esther M. Berger, a former VP with PaineWeber Investments and author of two books on money and wealth preservation for women– long before Suze Orman was even a thought. This woman would become the woman Alicia– an ordinary girl from Compton –model the rest of her life and career after.

Over the next 15-years, Alicia went on to become a licensed stock broker, insurance professional and Estate Planning paralegal in California. Scott moved up the ladder into executive management positions with firms like National Planning Corporation and Pacific Life Insurance.

Understanding the importance of money, economics, wealth building and preservation, in 2005 Alicia began holding free seminars at branches of the Los Angeles Public Library on retirement and estate planning to African-American and Latino community members.

Family life in the military

Alicia is married to Robert Scott, a retired  22-year US Army veteran. They have four children and reside with their daughter Taylor and miniature pinscher Belle in Savannah, GA.

In 2009, they family moved to S. Korea on military orders for 2-years. While there, Alicia was an avid volunteer for the military and launched the first Family Readiness Group (FRG) at USAG Camp Stanley, a base located 20-miles north of Seoul. Scott would spend two years volunteering to help military spouses adjust to life in Korea, planning events for the health and welfare of military dependents, and launching a charitable giving program to foster closer relations between the Korean community and the military.

In 2010, she created a charitable giving program partnered with the Seoul Business Chamber which raised money to buy 100 sets of hats, gloves, and scarves for the children of the Myeong Jin Orphanage in Seoul.
